Today, Octopus Energy has launched a new rewards programme – Octoplus – to help customers reduce their energy bills this winter.
The rewards scheme is designed to empower savvy smart meter customers to take control of their energy usage in exchange for a host of benefits, prizes and more.
Octoplus users will be able to earn “Octopoints” by getting stuck into different tasks, such as Octopus’s “Saving Sessions” and by maintaining a healthy energy account. The firm said 800 Octopoints is worth £1.
Rebecca Dibb-Simkin, chief product officer at Octopus Energy, commented: “Our customers have been so passionate about earning Octopoints through our previous demand flexibility schemes that we’re very excited to give them even more ways to do so.
“With Octoplus, our savviest customers can now make their Octopoints go even further, converting them into brilliant prizes, merchandise and soon even more rewards through trusted partners.”

According to the energy firm, customers can redeem their Octopoints for account credits, and they will soon be able to use them to make charity donations or exchange them for exclusive Octopus Energy merchandise.
To earn Octopoints, people can partake in a number of different tasks and challenges. Firstly, people could participate in Saving Sessions, where users are rewarded for curbing electricity consumption during times of peak energy demand
Customers can also be rewarded by spinning Octopus’ “Wheel of Fortune”. This can be done every time a meter reading is submitted.
Another way to nab some extra points is by referring a friend to switch to Octopus Energy, or by participating in Octopus’ solar installation scheme.
