{"id":43784,"date":"2023-10-18T14:59:30","date_gmt":"2023-10-18T14:59:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/histarmar.net\/?p=43784"},"modified":"2023-10-18T14:59:30","modified_gmt":"2023-10-18T14:59:30","slug":"scariest-horror-movies-ever-revealed-by-scientific-experiment-and-the-ring-only-came-20th-the-sun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/histarmar.net\/world-news\/scariest-horror-movies-ever-revealed-by-scientific-experiment-and-the-ring-only-came-20th-the-sun\/","title":{"rendered":"Scariest horror movies ever revealed by \u2018scientific experiment\u2019 \u2013 and The Ring only came 20th | The Sun"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ONE company has used science to determine the scariest films of all time. <\/p>\n<p>Conducted by MoneySuperMarket broadband, the experiment is known as the Science of Scare Project.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/10\/scariest-horror-movies-ever-revealed-853181943.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>The aim of the project is to &quot;categorically find the scariest movies in existence.&quot;<\/p>\n<h2>HOW DOES THE EXPERIMENT WORK?<\/h2>\n<p>Each year since 2020, the Science of Scare Project generates a list of the most terrifying English language films based on critic scores and reviews.<\/p>\n<p>It then shows these movies to a panel of 250 participants who are fitted with heart rate monitors.<\/p>\n<p>The screenings take place over several weeks throughout the year to prevent &quot;audience fatigue.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Researchers assess the participants&#x27; heart rate (measured in beats per minute BPM), and heart rate variance (measured in milliseconds, or m\/s) while watching the films.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;With heart rate (BPM), the higher the number, the faster the movie got our audiences&#x27; blood pumping, an indicator of excitement and fear as part of your fight or flight instinct,&quot; the team explained.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;On the other hand, heart rate variance (HRV), measures the time in between each beat of your heart. That movie has me on edge the entire time,&quot; one TikToker stated below the post.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The sound design in Sinister is designed to mess with you.
