Sarah said it\u2019s recommended that you wash your towels \u201cafter three uses\u201d. She continued: \u201cOf course, you can wash them more often but, generally speaking, this should be sufficient.<\/p>\n

More info<\/p>\n The research also found that a third of the UK admitted to only washing their towels \u201cevery three months\u201d which equates to roughly 17 million people.<\/p>\n When to replace towels depends on the quality and condition of the towel in question.<\/p>\n However, Sarah said it\u2019s generally recommended that Britons replace their towels \u201cevery two to three years\u201d.<\/p>\n She said: \u201cYou can usually tell if your towels have come to the end of their life as they may no longer feel soft or as absorbent as they did previously.\u201d<\/p>\n If a towel is musty, even after it\u2019s been washed, this may be a sign it needs to be replaced.<\/p>\n Another sign a towel needs to be replaced is fabric thinning and fraying.<\/p>\n Some experts suggest that homeowners should keep a towel for five years maximum.<\/p>\n
