For anyone getting itchy feet, a website has come up with an exciting new project just for retirees. It could be the dream job for anyone who loves TikTok, Netflix and video games.

As far as stereotypes go, the one where pensioners love to knit, bake and play bowls is pretty outdated.

Now a website is trying to prove just that by advertising for a new job for a retiree to binge on Netflix, post on social media and try out video games.

It believes that the idea that these hobbies are just for young people is a stereotype that needs to be stamped out.

Anyone who’s willing to have a go will be paid £500 for their trouble.

Pension comparison website money.co.uk says the project is only for retirees and will require applicants to “live like a teenager.”

James Andrews, Personal Finance Expert at money.co.uk, said it could be the dream job for many pensioners.

He said: “A New Year can signal a time many of us look to take up a new hobby or learn a new skill, but stereotypes have seemed to stay the same for what people of pensioner age can and can’t enjoy.

“With this new role, we want to show that those stereotypes no longer apply and that you’re only as old as you feel.”

He continued: “Whether it’s creating a TikTok account or diving into the latest video games, we hope we provide some inspiration for pastimes pensioners could pick up in 2022, and look forward to finding our CE-OAP to rank these hobbies from best to worst.”

The site aims to discover which hobbies can be enjoyed by both the younger generation and their elders.

It thinks that the stereotype that older people only enjoy things like bowls and knitting is long gone.

Now it needs someone to test out its theory and the lucky person selected will be provided with a games console and Netflix subscription to carry out the role.

The successful applicant will also be asked to rate their enjoyment of using TikTok and Instagram.

They will also be playing video games and watching Netflix series that are popular with younger people like Squid Game.

Applicants will need to be a little social media savvy, as they will also need to vlog about their experience.

The project starts on January 10, so applicants will have to be quick because the deadline to apply is January 7 via the money.co.uk website.
