Watch BMW driver's outrageous attempt to avoid a red light – leaving everyone saying the same thing | The Sun

A BMW driver's outrageous attempt to avoid a red light has left everyone saying the same thing.

Shocking dashcam footage shows the moment the motorist mounted a kerb between Bursledon Road and Hinkler Road in Southampton to bypass the stop signal.

Little did the driver know, the car sitting in front them had a dashcam capturing the event unfold around 4.50pm on Thursday.

In the 50-second clip, viewers can see a car stopped at traffic lights through the front window of the car with the recording device.

On the left hand side of the screen, a black BMW is seen driving along the footpath.

The driver cuts the corner by squeezing through a gap between the fence line and a bicycle stand.

Under the Highway Code, motorists must not drive on or over a pavement, footpath or bridleway.

There are only two exceptions to the rule – to gain lawful access to property, or in the case of an emergency.

Locals slammed the driver's brazenness when the video was uploaded to a community page.

One woman said: "I dread to think if people were walking on the pavement the other side of the bend."

Another man added: "They should have at least a one year ban for that and six points. Crazy".

The bizarre move comes after a motorist filmed the moment they drove down a bike path after being enraged at a cyclist who was apparently hogging the road.

The shocking video shows a vehicle accelerating towards the cyclist before swerving onto a grass verge and then mounting the path.
