TikTok user shares ‘life hack’ for deep cleaning ovens
Most of us just accept the greasy, dark stains on our plastic containers, but TikTokers have found a hack to get rid of them. All you need is some washing up liquid and kitchen roll, surprisingly. The job takes about a minute from start to finish, and the results are astonishing. Here’s how to remove stains from Tupperware.
Plastic is porous, which means at the micro-level the material has many gaps.
When you fill your plastic Tupperware with colourful leftover foods such as tomato soup, curry, and pasta with sauce, the foods get stuck between the gaps.
Reheating the food in the plastic container is perfectly safe, but the heat makes the plastic expand and the gaps get bigger.
The food slips into the gaps and gets stuck there permanently when the container cools down, causing stubborn stains and changes to the plastic’s colour.

Stained Tupperware isn’t a health concern, but it does make your food look less appealing.
Food stains often leave lingering odours that won’t seem to budge, even if you wash the container vigorously.
Tiktok user @adikempler posted a video back in July 2020 that has nearly 600,000 likes and shows exactly how to clean stained plastic containers and remove the smell.
More than 43,000 people have shared the video and posted reactions to it, copying the process and showing their amazing results.
The video is captioned: “This hack has saved so many of my Tupperware friends. Try it!!!!”

How to remove stains from plastic containers
According to the TikToker, all you need for this trick is washing up liquid and kitchen roll.
She says in the video: “Put a little bit of dish soap into the Tupperware, add some warm water, and then add a few pieces of ripped up paper towel.”
Put the lid back on the container and then shake it “pretty vigorously” for around a minute.
Once you’ve shaken the container – which will now be full of bubbles – for enough time, take off the lid.
Remove and dispose of the paper towels out and rinse the container with clean water.
The container should be completely clean with no stains in sight.
