Washing machines are often forgotten about when it comes to cleaning and although they clean clothes, the white goods also need to be cleaned themselves. Mrs Hinch fans took to Facebook to share their own methods.
Mrs Hinch – also known as Sophie Hinchcliffe – rose to fame when she started to share cleaning tips and tricks online.
Now with more than four million social media followers, the cleaning sensation continues to inspire people to clean their homes each day.
This has resulted in fans setting up their own pages where they share their own discoveries.
Posting on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, one woman asked for some advice when it came to cleaning her washing machine.
The post read: “Please help. No matter what I do, my washing machine smells horrid.
“I’ve put bleach through several times on a hot wash as well as washing machine cleaner.
“It’s better for one wash and then smells again a day later. Really upsetting me, has anyone got any gems to help?”
Fans rushed to the comments to share their own cleaning methods when it came to solving bad odours.

One person said: “Pop a cap of Zoflora in the softener drawer on a hot wash.”
Zoflora is a concentrated disinfectant that claims to kill 99.9 percent of bacteria.
It also comes in several different scents, and is a product loved by Mrs Hinch herself.
Another said: “I agree, use a nice smelling disinfectant that will also help to get rid of any lingering germs.”
Other fans recommended cleaning the filter.
One woman wrote: “Clean the filter. It makes a big difference and do a hot wash with no clothes, just white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda.
“Also add a splash of Zoflora if you have it.”
White vinegar also makes a great cleaner and disinfectant because it is made from acetic acid.

What’s more, it can be picked up for as little as £1 from most retailers.
Paired with bicarbonate of soda, the natural cleaning product can help to reduce odours.
Bicarbonate of soda can also help dirt and grease to dissolve in water and is often known to be extremely effective.
It can be used on a variety of different surfaces around the home including the kitchen and bathroom.
Other Mrs Hinch fans recommended leaving the drawer of the washing machine open to let it air out.
One woman said: “I use dishwasher tablets to clean mine, but definitely leave the door open when you’re not using it.”
Another agreed and commented: “I’m the same, but I also leave the drum open to disperse any smells and dampness.”
