Cleaning the oven can be a time consuming task with homeowners having to spend a lot of time scrubbing the racks. Posting on a Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group, one woman revealed her simple hack to leave the oven sparkling with very little effort.

Mrs Hinch, real name Sophie Hinchcliffe, has built up a huge fan base by sharing her cleaning hacks online.

She has been so popular that homeowners in the UK have created social media pages dedicated to her top tips.

One woman took to a Facebook group to share her excitement after finding a new way to clean her oven.

While there are plenty of products dedicated to oven cleaning in the supermarkets, she suggested none of these are necessary.

Instead, homeowners can use a cleaning product they probably already have in their cupboards.

The Facebook user posted: “Dishwasher tablets are a game changer.

“Dip the tablet in water and scrub over any stains or burnt spills in the oven. It melts them away.

“Even wiping the paste that forms over with my hand they lift off. I was scrubbing mine with a metal scourer and they weren’t shifting easily.

“I saw the dishwasher tablet tip on here, without hard scrubbing they just melted away. And the glass is sparkling! Gonna try my glass hob next.”

By using dishwasher tablets, the cleaning enthusiast managed to remove stains without too much effort.

The Facebook user added: “If it isn’t clear, I mean the hard dishwasher tablets not the squishy ones as you scrub with the actual tablet – and I just used cheap ones so the brand isn’t important.”

The tip impressed others and it quickly gathered hundreds of likes and comments.

Some people shared pictures of their sparkling ovens after trying out the trick for themselves.

One wrote: “This is genius – with the racks, I put them in the bathtub with some clothing washing powder and boiled water and leave for half hour – it wipes straight off.”

“I used a dishwasher tablet dissolving the sink (I have a big sink), put a tea towel and the racks in to soak while I did the oven,” another explained.

“I rubbed over the door and bottom until there was nothing left rinsed and dried. I did the same to racks. Will definitely use it again.”

A third said: “Thanks for that I will try it, it’s a job I despise.”

Another social media user gave a hack for those who do not have dishwasher tablets to hand.

She commented: “Washing powder has the same effect.”
