Helen and Naomi Davis, 53 and 28, have started a side hustle to help pay their energy bills. The dynamic duo, from London, spoke exclusively to saying they would “definitely recommend” it to others.

A mum and daughter are using their creative skills this Halloween to make an extra £300 on top of their day jobs.

The creative pair have signed up to Airtasker to offer their face painting skills to other parents.

Mum Helen, 53, told “I’ve been doing face painting on and off since Naomi was in primary school for her birthday parties – so about 15 or 20 years now!

“I’ve also done it over the years for holidays like Halloween, Easter and Christmas. Naomi started to gain interest and started experimenting in secondary school.”

Helen came across the site when she was looking for someone to change the flooring in Naomi’s bedroom.

After that they began looking for tasks to supplement their full-time jobs – Helen works in the public sector and daughter Naomi is a property office coordinator.

Other people looking to make an extra income could make the most of skills such as cleaning, gardening or baking.

When asked if they would recommend it to others, Helen said: “I definitely would, it’s so flexible and can work around your part-time or full-time day jobs.”

She continued: “The £300 has come at a good time for us – I don’t like to be a grinch but with the cost of living and Christmas coming up I’ve definitely been worried. So, this will really help ease the worry!

“It’s amazing to have the opportunity to work with my daughter doing something both fun and rewarding.

“As the cost of bills continues to rise, this year has been tough for us financially so the extra money will be a big help.

“We’re hosting a Halloween party with 20 guests including children.”

Naomi and Helen aren’t the only ones to recommend Airtasker as a way to make money.

A mum from Peckham in London has shared how she makes an extra £500 a month from the site.

Rebecca Harry, 33, from south London said she’s been offering cleaning, translating, and accounting services and the additional income is helping to “take the sting out of rising costs”.

She said: “I think using Airtasker will be a big help with household bills as the cost of everything keeps going up, I’m definitely going to keep using it to help my family, especially in the run up to Christmas.”
