Meghan Markle and Prince Harry currently reside in their current home in Montecito which they reportedly purchased for £11.2million in June 2020. But where did the Duchess of Sussex live before meeting the royal?
Her childhood home
Meghan Markle was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.
She lived in a two-bedroom property on Providencia Street in Woodland Hills with her mother Doria Ragland, father Thomas Markle and half-siblings Thomas Jr and Samantha until she was two.
Her second childhood home
When her parents divorced in 1983, Meghan and her mother Doria moved into an apartment in Mild-Wilshire, LA.
The Duchess of Sussex split her time here with her father’s apartment behind the Hollywood strip.
She spent weekdays with her father as it was closer to her high school.
Meghan stayed there until she graduated and left for college in 1999.
Her sorority home
Meghan Markle attended Northwestern University in Illinois, close to Chicago, to study theatre and international studies, and was a member of sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma.
The Evanston, Illinois sorority house was in the middle of the University’s campus.
Her Toronto home
During the filming of the Netflix series Suits, Meghan Markle lived in Toronto with her two dogs Guy and Bogart.
She moved to Toronto from Los Angeles in 2011 but reportedly ended up splitting her time between the two since her then-husband Trevor was based in LA.
Meghan stayed there for several years while filming Suits, and often shared glimpses into her home life on her now-deleted Instagram account.
The entrance of the home led straight into Meghan’s living and dining room, which had wooden flooring throughout and a red striped rug in front of a white-painted staircase.
The living room had a cosy feeling, with a cream corner sofa offering the perfect bed for Meghan’s dogs, and helping to separate the living area from the dining area.
Meghan added throws and cushions to the sofa, while bunches of flowers and plants were scattered around the room to add some colour to the neutral décor.
The actress decorated the living room with comfy cushions, a grey striped throw and a snuggly looking faux fur footstool, with a number of different prints and pieces of art on the walls.
Behind the sofa, there was a small table lined with photos in monochrome chevron-patterned frames.
Much like the rest of her home, Meghan’s bedroom was decorated in white, with classic all-white bedding and a large birdcage style mirror on the wall.
Her former marital home
Meghan and her then-husband Trevor Engelson owned a mansion in Los Angeles between 2011 and 2013 until the couple divorced.
The former marital home is now up for sale for approximately £1.5million.
According to the listing, the home has four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a huge garden with an alfresco dining area.
When the pair divorced in 2013, Meghan returned to her home in Toronto until she moved to London to be with Prince Harry.
Her temporary LA home
While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were house-hunting for a permanent abode in the US after stepping down as senior royals, they resided in Hollywood actor Tyler Perry’s former house.
The $18million Beverly Hills mansion boasted 12 bedrooms and eight bathrooms.
