I'm a car expert – here's how to replace a £10 part that can save you up to 10% on petrol | The Sun

A CAR expert has revealed that replacing a part of your car could save you up to 10% on petrol.

Most motorists don't know that a clogged air filter can reduce fuel efficiency and impact acceleration.

Car experts say that a dirty or damaged air filter limits the amount of air flowing into your car’s engine, making it work harder and, therefore, using more fuel.

Will Bullen of Car Lease Special Offers said to the Daily Express: "Dirty air filters cause your engine to work harder than it has to, which means more fuel is used.

"You should follow the manufacturer’s guidelines to change these as needed to help boost your fuel economy."

Handily, a TikTok user, @carpartscom, uploaded a video showing how to replace the air filters.
