Huw was awoken by the intruder at 5.30am and ran downstairs to approach them. The burglar escaped in Huw’s Mercedes.

The BBC presenter’s black Mercedes GL SUV was recovered the following day.

Following the death of his father in 2010, Huw struggled with weight gain.

After his wife pointed it out, he decided to take charge of his health and fitness.

He previously told The Times: “It’s like a drug. I’d eat when I wasn’t hungry. I wasn’t doing any fitness.

“I was grazing, watching telly and eating stuff, even though I didn’t need it.”

Huw took up boxing and running and started working with boxer Clinton McKenzie, who helped him transform his eating habits and fitness.

Huw lost an incredible three stone as a result of his new health and fitness regime.
