Your radiators can collect loads of dust and debris over time. You may not be able to see all the dust as it collects between the bars of the radiator or between the appliance and the wall, but that grime can irritate allergies, and make your radiator less efficient. If you can’t remember when you last cleaned inside your radiator, it’s time to tackle it with this easy and inexpensive trick.
Cleaning behind your radiators can be a very difficult task.
The slim, narrow, gaps within your radiator can be very tricky to reach.
Although you can’t see inside the radiator, these gaps can collect an incredible amount of dust and grime.
However, fans of the cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch have come up with a genius hack to spruce up those hard to reach areas.
All you need is your vacuum cleaner, a bit of parcel tape and some drinking straws.
Sharing her hack to the Hinch Army Facebook group, Katie Caswell captioned her creation: “Here is the new radiator cleaner 3000 all you need is 4 straws and a bit of tape! You will never have a problem getting that dust out now.”
Taping straws to the nozzle of the vacuum cleaner extends the reach of the machine, allowing you to tackle the hardest areas.
One Facebook user commented they use the same hack to get to tricky spots when vacuuming their car.
With paper drinking straws available for as little as £2 for a pack of 80, this hack is certainly cheap and cheerful.
You can buy long cleaning bristles to get down your radiators too, if you prefer.
Not only will dusting your radiator spruce up the room, it can also make your heating more efficient.

It is also essential for anyone with allergies to eradicate all dust from your home, including sneaky hidden dust like that which collects inside your radiators.
If you decide to tackle the dust in your radiators, it’s a good idea to put an old towel or newspapers down underneath before you start cleaning.
This is because if you loosen all the dust and debris within the radiator, it could all fall out onto your floor; making another cleaning job for you to tackle.
If using drinking straws and a vacuum cleaner doesn’t work for you, you can also use your hairdryer to literally blow the cobwebs out of your radiator.
Make sure you put an old towel, sheet or newspapers down on the floor first.
Then just point your hairdryer down the radiator, it should blow all the dust out of the bottom.
