HUNDREDS of Facebook users have been reporting issues with the website and app this morning.
There were over 900 Facebook outage issues reported to the Downdetector website in the US just before 9am ET.
At the same time, reports in the UK started to rise.

Meta explained
Meta is the name given to Facebook in October 2021, when Mark Zuckerberg announced the company was rebranding.
During Facebook's Connect keynote speech, Zuckerberg stated that the word Meta better represents the company now.
The billionaire said: “We are a company that builds technology to connect people.
“Facebook was born at a specific time, a college campus, the web. Increasingly it just doesn’t encompass everything we do."

The US Sun has reached out to Meta about this outage users are experiencing.

Previous Facebook outages, continued
There have been other reported Facebook outages in the past, including:
- November 2021: Facebook malware affecting user logins and sharing.
- December 15, 2021: Users reported having trouble logging in to Facebook.
- May 4, 2022: Facebook had a global outage as users experienced issues with the website and app.
- October 27, 2022: Facebook users reported the social media site was down. Instagram users also experienced problems with the site.
- December 5, 2022: Facebook users reported issues with the website and server.
- April 11, 2023: Users globally, including the U.S., Mexico, Australia, and the United Kingdom, reported issues with the website and app.

Previous Facebook outages
There have been other reported Facebook outages in the past, including:
- June 2014: Facebook was down for about a half-hour – its longest outage in four years.
- January 2015: Facebook was down for about 40 minutes affecting users worldwide.
- March 2019: A massive Facebook outage affected users worldwide. Facebook was down for about 14 hours, which is believed to be the biggest interruption any social network has ever experienced.
- January 2021: Facebook experienced a bug that logged most users out of their mobile app.
- March 2021: Over 60,000 users said they experienced problems with Facebook, while 38,000 Instagram users also reported issues.
- September 2021: Facebook users are locked out of their accounts.
- October 2021: Facebook was one of a dozen apps that were experiencing outages
Users complain of issues with Facebook Dating
Facebook Dating users have taken to Twitter to complain that their feature profiles look like they've been deleted.
'[D]on't use Facebook dating. They will removed you for no reason," one frustrated user wrote.
"Playing with the wrong person Facebook. Stopping me from using your products isn't cool without reason."
Another added: "it’s down for everyone [man]."
How to check if Facebook is not working
Those who may be experiencing difficulties with Facebook can check other social media apps, such as Twitter, for reports.
If you don't have a Twitter account, Downdetector will tell users when the apps are down or experiencing difficulties.
If it appears the problem may not be widespread, try checking the internet connection on your device or exiting the app before logging back in.
'It's like my account was deleted'
Users are commenting below the Downdetector announcement of Facebook experiencing issues.
One person wrote: "My facebook dating app is not working. Nothing comes up, its like my account was deleted."

Downdetector has published a heat map showing where issues reported by users are concentrated over the past 24 hours.
It is common for some problems to be reported throughout the day, according to the site, but there have been over 950 issues reported as of 9am EST.
The website says: “Downdetector only reports an incident when the number of problem reports is significantly higher than the typical volume for that time of day.”

Users are reporting that most problems they're experiencing are occurring on the website (51 percent).
Meanwhile, others are reporting lesser issues with the app (38 percent) and login (11 percent).
