Now four years later, she’s returning to the documentary format with Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil.

Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil will follow up on the topics explored in Simply Complicated, but in the context of new events including Lovato’s near-fatal overdose, which occurred after Simply Complicated was released. The four-part documentary will begin airing March 23 on YouTube.

The four-part documentary will air over the course of four weeks and can be accessed for free on YouTube. The preceding documentary, Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated, can also be accessed in full on YouTube.
The film debuted March 16 as one of the headlining titles at South by Southwest (SXSW).

What will Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil be about?
Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil follows Demi’s journey with drug use three years after Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated, which dealt with similar themes. The documentary will include testimonials from Lovato, her friends, her family, her managers, and celebrities such as Elton John. The documentary and its content come on the heels of Lovato’s public overdose and subsequent hospitalization in 2018. In the trailer for the documentary, it’s revealed that Lovato had three strokes and a heart attack as a result of her overdose. The four-part documentary will follow Lovato’s journey with her mental, emotional, and physical health and how she’s moving forward with her life and her career.
Lovato seems to be compellingly devoted to mental health awareness through honesty and open discussion, and hopefully sharing her story and her struggles will help to normalize conversations about mental health and drug use.
