When is Black Friday?
Black Friday 2020 is on November 27, the day after the American holiday Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is always on the fourth Thursday of November, and Black Friday is always the day after.
Black Friday iPhone offers can continue into the Black Friday weekend, but they can also start long before Black Friday itself.
What to expect from Black Friday iPhone deals
The first thing to expect is that deals could arrive before Black Friday does.
Last year online mobile retailers released waves of deals, with the first offers arriving a week or two before the day.
Both the iPhone XR and iPhone 11 featured among them, with big monthly data being offered on pay monthly contracts.
This year it is sensible to look out for deals which come early, but also only to complete a purchase if you’re happy with what you’ll get.
Compare prices across retailers and providers, including the likes of Fonehouse, Affordable Mobiles, Mobiles.co.uk, Carphone Warehouse, and mobile networks.
Prices can change quickly, and slightly better deals might arrive throughout the period.
While XR is less popular and less available, as it is no longer being produced, we might see some big price-cuts on any available stock.
More likely is a focus on the iPhone SE, and iPhone 11 range – especially with the reported upcoming ‘iPhone 12’ releases.
The iPhone SE should see some very affordable offers, as we’ve already seen this year from Buy Mobiles and ID Mobiles.
In short, this could be a very good Black Friday to pick up a new iPhone.

IT might be tempting to dive in and snap up LOADS of items on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but here’s how you can guarantee you’re getting a good deal.
PREPARE Research the items you want to buy and find out the cheapest price. Websites like PriceSpy, PriceHistory and CamelCamelCamel will give you historical data on prices so you can see how much you should pay.
GET FOLLOWING Follow your favourite shops on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and sign up to its deals newsletter to get the latest on any offers. We post the best deals in our Sun Money FB group too.
CHECK FOR CODES Take a look at The Sun Vouchers, and see if you can get extra savings with discount codes.
What Black Friday iPhone deals were in the sale last year?
The headline deals for last year focused on the iPhone 11. The two top deals were:
- iPhone 11 on EE (75GB data), was £41 a month, £0 up front at Fonehouse – buy here
- iPhone 11 on Vodafone (60GB data), was £33 a month (£55 upfront) at E2Save – buy here
Meanwhile the iPhone XR had, perhaps, its last Black Friday hurrah with the following standout handset and contract deals.

Do Apple products go on sale on Black Friday?
Yes. Apple products go on sale via retailers and mobile networks during the period.
Apple doesn’t usually launch a ‘Black Friday’ sale itself, although it tends to unveil an exclusive Apple event which can mean discounts.
Previously savings have been for existing Apple users looking to trade-in for upgrades.

Who has the best Black Friday deals on iPhones?
The best deals are always personal, but the biggest discounts aren’t always offered by the same retailer or network each year.

Will the iPhone 11 Pro Max be on sale on Black Friday?
We don’t know, but it is likely that the whole iPhone 11 range of smartphones will see discounts.
We have already seen discounts on the iPhone 11 Pro Max in 2020, so it would be surprising if we didn’t see more during November.
As a new iPhone 12 range is expected before November, all iPhone 11 devices are likely to see offers.
