Mrs Hinch – also known as Sophie Hinchcliffe – rose to fame after she started to share unusual cleaning tips and tricks online. Now with more than four million Instagram followers, fans of the cleaning guru regularly share their own finds online.

Taking to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, one woman shared an “amazing” product she used to remove all the dirt from her rug.

Clare Ashley wrote: “I did my rug today, I thought it was clean and looked nice.

“I was amazed by the colour of the water after two minutes let alone a few hours.

“Best tip I’ve had so far, I think amazing results!”

The woman then shared a photo of her rug which was placed in the bath surrounded by filthy wear.

Clare has used Napisan which can be added to every wash load.

It kills 99.9 percent of bacteria in your laundry as well as leaving garments more hygienic.

It can be picked up from multiple different supermarkets for around £4.

The Mrs Hinch fan added: “It’s still drying though…I’ve hung it over my line outside…dried it first in the bathroom, just let the water run off and dry.”

Rugs, especially those placed in rooms like the living room, can harbour millions of different germs if not cleaned regularly.

What’s more, these germs could then be spread throughout the house.

Clare’s post was liked more than 100 times with comments from other group members sharing their own rug cleaning hacks.

Looby Lou said: “This product is great for dog bedding too.”

Lala Pip added: “I put this in every single wash.”

Wendy Morris said: “I also put my rug in the wash but I add washing detergent with a bit of softener, makes my rug look good as new.”

Other Mrs Hinch fans recommended using a hoover to remove the dirt and dust and a carpet rake to remove all the hair.

Carpet rakes, which can be picked up for as little as 80p, help to pick up dirt, hair, pet fur and dried particles of stains.

Using a lint roller may also be useful in picking up hair and dog fur.

Sharing on the same Facebook page, one woman shared a “game changing” tip for cleaning washing machines.

Mia Thorpe wrote: “Love cleaning the washing machine. Gives me such satisfaction.

“Just used soda crystals to clean mine, only 79p.”

Soda crystals can help to remove stains as well as soften water.

They can also be used to clean rugs, helping to remove dirt and stains.
