Astrologer shares ‘best’ bedroom colours to ‘appeal’ to your star sign

According to the professional astrologer, crystal healer and moon meter, Bex Milford, there’s a colour to suit every star sign when it comes to decorating your bedroom. She explained that certain shades “appeal” to the energy of each zodiac to create an environment based on your “natural taste”.

Speaking to Hammonds Fitted Furniture, Bex Milford (@cosmic cures on Instagram) said: “Our star sign indicates which constellation the sun was positioned in when we were born.

“In our birth charts (which is the cosmic blueprint of our fate, our karmic path and our destiny) the sun represents our sense of self, our ego and the person we most identify with. It’s therefore natural that our tastes and preferences are influenced by our star sign!

“Our sun sign also shows what we can embrace and develop in order to become our most fulfilled and authentic selves.

“Taking our star sign into account when we decorate rooms is just another way to connect with this authentic version of ourselves, allowing us to feel most confident and comfortable in the room we’ve created!”

For those born between March 21 and April 19, Bex recommended a modern design with a “bold, statement wall”. She said: “Generally, Aries will prefer to keep things minimalistic (and clutter-free), so a chic black and white base with a statement wall of fire-engine red, crimson or hot pink will appeal to their fire-sign nature.”

When it comes to textures, industrial styles like brushed metal, steel and exposed concrete are worth trying.

If you’re a Taurus (April 20 to May 10), cottage-core with “a hint of luxury” will appeal to your love of the finer things in life. Think soft throws, plump cushions, thick sheepskin rugs, and materials of velvet and silk for furnishings.

When it comes to walls, try pale woods like birch and oak combined with pastel shades such as blush pink, pale sage and light turquoise. Floral patterns also suit this star sign, according to Bex.

Mid-century modern decor is well-suited to Geminis (May 21 to June 20), who are known for their eclectic taste and enjoyment of bright colours. According to Bex, this is a sign that will “love to experiment with more daring shades” such as yellow.

This could be in the form of a sunflower yellow statement wall, a mustard headboard, or simply splashes of buttercup yellow throughout. Light blues and patterns that focus on lines, combined with airy, floor-length fabrics are also worth a try.

Neutral decor finished with antiques, knick-knacks, and photographs everywhere is well suited to famously nostalgic Cancers (June 21 to July 22).

The astrology experts said: “Big antique mirrors, old chests from charity shops, and huge wardrobes are staples you may find in a Cancer’s bedroom. They favour a neutral colour palette as they love white, pearly hues, and soft pastels. Texture-wise, this sign prefers flowing fabrics such as silk, and silver as their chosen metal.”

As Aries’ fellow fire sign, a sultry bedroom filled with statement shades like black and gold mimics the confidence of this zodiac (July 23 to August 22). Think crushed velvet, jewel tones and dramatic gold details throughout.

Those born between August 23 and September 22 are on-trend with a Scandinavian-style interior. Bex noted that this sign loves to keep things “simple and chic” with clever storage to minimise clutter and clean-cut, earthy furniture designs,

Small splashes of colour in the form of dark green, tan and brown can complement a Virgo’s space, or be incorporated into smaller patterns such as checks.

Greek elegance is the best way to describe the harmonious interior favoured by Libras (September 23 to October 21). To recreate it, try blending cotton and linens in pastel shades, finished off with gold touches throughout.

To appeal to the dramatic flair of Scorpio people (October 22 to November 21), Bex recommended a bold Japandi-style bedroom with dashes of deep red to contrast the white. For textures, try brushed silk, dark wood and velour.

A maximalist approach filled with Moroccan rugs, mosaic tiling, bamboo and leather is all worth a try – along with deep blue and raspberry tones. According to Bex, Sagitarrians (November 23 to December 21) love styles inspired by various cultures and lands they have immersed themselves in.

Earth-sign Capricorns (December 22 to January 19) have a love of natural materials. Rooms tend to feature exposed stone, dark woods and an “abundance of plants”, said Bex. She noted that natural light is “essential”, along with linens and cotton fabrics.

A tropical setting is something to try if you’re an Aquarius (January 20 to February 18). This can be achieved by combining bold colours like electric blue, aquamarine and vibrant shades of green. Incorporating glass, feathers and natural light into the space is also “important”, according to Bex.

A cleaner and brighter coastal vibe is well suited to calm Pisces (February 19 to March 20), which is a water sign. Pale blues, lavender and grey tones make for a soothing palette and can be used to create the perfect mix of “bohemian and cosmopolitan”. Distressed wooden furniture with a white wash is complemented by flowing fabrics.
