Meet the AI startup trying to get at-risk patients enrolled in Medicaid before undergoing expensive surgeries or treatments
Millions of Americans lost their jobs — and their health insurance — amid the economic turbulence wrought by COVID-19, but many may not be aware that they qualify for Medicaid.
While it used to be a politically-charged topic, even the most conservative states are expanding the Medicaid entitlement program to include hundreds of thousands more people. But getting people to sign up can be challenge.
Jvion is trying to help by using de-identified patient information and artificial intelligence to figure out the most at-risk patients who may be unable to afford treatment or surgery.
It leads to "stronger financial health for the hospitals, stronger financial health for the patient, and overall better quality of care," Chief Product Officer John Showalter told Business Insider.
